Beer Festival with Live Music at Dog & Partridge

The UK’s top Brice Springsteen tribute act, gypsy jazz violin and a touring Canadian singer-songwriter are among the musical gems lined up for the ‘magnificent seventh’ Marchington Melee.
The latest version of the twice-yearly event takes place at the Dog & Partridge pub, Church Lane, from March 4-6 and alongside the music, landlord Paul Needham has lined up a mouthwatering selection of more than 20 real ales and ciders.
Admission to all sessions is free of charge, but customers will be invited to buy a commemorative reusable pint pot, with profits going to the local ‘Fridge Aid’ campaign to replace the refrigerator at the village shop.
Friday March 4 (7.30pm) opens with a headlining appearance from Glory Days – the UK’s top Bruce Springsteen tribute act, with all the hits of the man they call The Boss. Also appearing are Dreams Of Fleetwood Mac, rounding out the theme of rock classics.
On Saturday 5th March (7.30pm) there’s a change of genre, with Gypsy Fire, featuring the violin pyrotechnics of Detrby’s Ben Holder. Support comes from Dave The Cat … Marchington’s top covers band.
Then on Sunday afternoon (5.30pm) there’s another coup for the popular pub, with the visit of touring Canadian singer-songwriter Christina Martin as part of the popular Sharp’s Sunday Sessions.
Paul Needham says: “It’s hard to believe we’re onto the seventh Marchington Melee since we’ve been here, but we’re determined to make it the most magnificent yet. Once again we’ll be combining great ale and music with an effort that supports the local community.”
Previous Marchington Melees have raised enough money to buy two community defibrillators.
