Funhouse Comedy Night at Old BellDate: Fri 7th Nov Time: 20:00 Friday night comedy at the Old Bell Hotel, Derby Funhouse Comedy Club, which already runs successful nights at various venues all over the country, is excited to announce the launch of their brand new comedy night at the Old Bell Hotel, Derby on Friday November 7th. Funhouse Comedy Clubs are renowned for having exceptionally friendly audiences and a brilliant atmosphere which have led to twice winning Best Midlands Comedy Club awards with leading comedy website Chortle. Previous acts to have played its clubs on their road to fame and fortune include Sarah Millican, Russell Kane, Jack Whitehall and Rhod Gilbert, who described the clubs as “among the best anywhere in the world.” Headlining the launch will be writer, musician, producer and comedian Adam Kay who started his career in 1998 performing at medical school. He then decided to move on, from medical in-jokes to doing witty and creative songs, which covered a wider audience. As front man of the Amateur Transplants doing sell-out tours, his unique, morbidly funny recreations of pop and rock classics have led to a cult following across the UK. The iconic London Underground Song has become a YouTube phenomenon with over 7 million hits, proceeds of which are donated to Macmillan Cancer Relief. Support comes from the extremely personable Suzi Ruffell, who has supported Alan Carr and Kevin Bridges on tour. Her stories of her love life, cyber stalking and finding proof of pleasure in another relationship is both interesting and amusing. Add to that her take on the ‘gays cause storms’ headline and her audiences are totally engrossed. Completing the line-up will be the gently perceptive Garrett Millerick; a writer, director and comedian his tales and irritated diatribes are compelling. Compere for the night is the genial and witty Chris Brooker.
